Values

Kombiz Youth Network values opportunity, participation, justice and equity for all young people with priority for those in disadvantaged, marginalised or other difficult situations.

The following principles inform our work:

  • Responsive - Responding holistically to community youth needs
  • People focussed - Putting people before programs (engaging with "people" rather than "clients")
  • Authenticity - Relating with integrity
  • Social justice - Standing in solidarity with the marginalised
  • Christian - believing that faith can enhance and enrich lives, encouraging respectful inter-faith dialogue (see also our "Faith Matters" page)

We also share the City of Port Phillip's commitment to supporting the "40 Developmental Assets" (see The Search Institute). "Asset Building" includes developing:

  • Support,
  • Empowerment,
  • Boundaries and expectation
  • Constructive use of time
  • A commitment to learning
  • The development of values
  • Acquiring of social competencies
  • A positive sense of identity.

NB. Kombiz Youth Network staff members adhere to the Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers' Code of Ethics.
